Hi everyone! I bet you are surprised to see me a little bit early this week! However, I have a question that I want to answer urgently…
This one actually makes me a little bit sad. Has anyone ever hear of Senioritis? I have and I can tell you it is not pretty. This is the time of year when many high school seniors receive their college acceptance letters. I often hear student ask, “since I have already been accepted to college do I have to do well during my last semester of high school? Or can I just coast?”
Let me make this very clear; you cannot just coast. It is extremely important to keep your grades up during your final semester of college. First of all, many college acceptances are conditional upon successful completion of your high school career. Your final grades are sent to your chosen school and if they feel like they are not sufficient they can rescind your acceptance.
Secondly, if you want to be considered for any merit-based scholarships you need to maintain your grades until the end. Scholarships are a great way to pay for college because they do not have to be repaid. The best way to get scholarships is to do well in school.
Finally, your grades still count towards your overall high school GPA. If you are even thinking about vying for a top spot in your graduating class your final grades could make all the difference in the world. Additionally, college is not going to be easier than high school so it is important to maintain good study habits and keep your brain sharp.
Ok, now that I really sound like your mother, get back to the books! You are in the home stretch of your high school career now so do not let senioritis set in. I would hate for anyone to lose an acceptance or a scholarship because of a few high school grades. Trust me, when it is over it will all be worth it!

you most def cant just coast through senior year trust me , it still counts!
Wow that’s to much for me.
Oh man Senioritis definitely something true..but i learned to work hard and play hard
i hate senioritis. i cant get anything done.
I have enrolled in to the college my choice…& is currently waiting on the acceptance letter. Im hoping that I have got into this college. Its important that I get my degree & fill out as many applications as posible
i think i have juniorits.
i have Senioritis but i am traying my hardest in all my classes no matyter what oe of my friends got it last year nd she did horrible on her last semester and the college took back there excceptance
My friends and i have often joked about having “senioritis” when we were juniors. It wasn’t until my senior year where i noticed what senioritis really was!!! my junior year it was just us being lazy and not wanting to do homework and such. SENIORITIS SUCKS!!!
I am so glad senioritis has no hit me becase I think it is very important to be sure not to slack off at all during high school. Slacking shows that you are not a hard worker and you will not be in college.
I have actually been trying even harder my senior year trying to bring up my GPA from when I didn’t try my freshman or sophomore year!
i had senioritis too, but i came through
SENIORITIS is terrible…i’m trying my best to stay in there and graduate !
Alot of my friends caught senioritis. They would barely show up for school. You may think that showing up for classes wont’ affect you because your a senior, but I can tell you that it hurt alot of my friend’s GPA’s in the long run
colleges look at 2nd semester grades/ rank
Yeah, I find that if you get into what you’re learning senioritis isn’t so bad.
oh no senioritis for me started at the beginning of FIRST SEMESTER! and it was so hard trying to put my head straight and pay attention.
It’s awful. I have a bad case. I know I should still apply for scholarships but i’ve become lazy and am just ready to graduate!
Ah I have it! A bad case in fact. It is not good!
Colleges still look at you grades even after you have been accepted. At the bottom of your acceptance letter is explains that the acceptance still depends on ALL your high school grades.
My senior year was a breeze and not hard at all. Not sure what others are talking about!
would love to coast, but only about another 12 weeks to go.
Senioritis is SOOOO bad right now, but no coasting for me… USF, along with most colleges has you send in recent transcripts at the end of the semester.
senior year is hard but you’ll get through it if you do your work
